The Minister of Petroleum and Energy visited METCentre’s offshore test site west of Karmøy earlier this week. Out on the site, she could see the recently installed TetraSpar Demonstrator from Stiesdal alongside Unitech Zefyros (Hywind Demo).
I cannot say no to a boattrip!
– Tina Bru, Minister of Petroleum and Energy to E24
The TetraSpar demonstrator was installed late July and will be connected to the grid in the coming weeks. The project is a partnership between Shell, RWE, TEPCO Renewable Power, and Stiesdal Offshore Technologies.
METCentre is located close to one of the areas opened for offshore renewables, Utsira Nord, and features similar weather conditions. Featuring a depth of around 200 metres, the test site focuses on testing floating offshore wind technologies.
The trip offshore was hosted by Shell, one of the partners in the TetraSpar Demonstrator project.
