Arild Opheim Appointed New Head of Communications at Norwegian Offshore Wind
Norway’s largest offshore wind industry network has recruited a new Head of Communications from NRK and the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
Arild Opheim brings extensive experience as a journalist, presenter, director, and advisor – having worked on everything from light entertainment to complex technology and societal communications. In recent years, he has served as Senior Communications Advisor at the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, with a particular focus on communicating work related to artificial intelligence and innovative digitalization.
“I look forward to helping highlight and promote a growing future industry, and to building pride and strength in the communications work Norwegian Offshore Wind is engaged in,” says Opheim, who will assume the position on September 1st.
Opheim has developed and directed several TV and radio concepts, including audience favorites such as «Doctors vs Internet» and «Helene sjekker inn». Now, he’s ready to transition into the energy sector. Norwegian Offshore Wind is working to advance the offshore wind initiative both in Norway and in key global markets. The organization currently has around 400 member companies.
“It’s incredibly exciting to work with something that’s not only crucial for the climate and Norway’s energy supply but also has the potential to become a new industrial success story for the country,” says Opheim.
Norwegian Offshore Wind also operates METCentre, the world-leading test center for floating offshore wind, located off the coast of Karmøy. This spring, it was announced that two new projects will be testing their solutions at their Karmøy site.
